data_engine no longer starts: COM Error [0x80004005] Unspecified error - [Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 11.0] Invalid connection string attribute

Issue/Introduction

data_engine cannot start anymore, apparently nothing changed.

Error message in data_engine.log:

Environment

DX UIM 23.4.*

Cause

This issue will occur If the data_engine Encryption is set to "True" and the configuration for supporting  TLS 1.2 was not done (Eg. Certificate was not created and imported and no .jks file is created) as per Support for TLS v1.2 (Microsoft SQL Server)

 

Resolution

If Encryption is not turned on at the SQL Server, and no configuration is done on the server as per Support for TLS v1.2 (Microsoft SQL Server), to resolve this issue: 

 

1. Stop the data_engine. 

2. Edit via raw configure and set "Encrypt = false"
