Issue/Introduction

This article explains the purpose and function of the nsxt_<UUID> service account, which appears in vCenter Server following integration with NSX Manager.

Environment

VMware NSX

Resolution

The nsxt_<UUID> service account in vCenter Server is automatically created when the "Create Service Account" option is enabled during the registration of Compute Managers to NSX Manager.

This account is utilised by NSX to authenticate with vCenter's REST APIs (vAPIs), enabling vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM) operations such as cluster installation, upgrades, and host remediation.

Password changes and resets for this service account are managed through the NSX inventory and are automatically rotated. No manual intervention is required for password updates or account maintenance.
