Issue/Introduction

This article is intended to assist in deleting a vSAN File Share that reports as orphaned or as 0 MB and is no longer required.

Environment

vSphere 7.X
vSphere 8.X

Resolution

At this time, there are no tools available to identify NFS clients that are mounted with a particular vSAN File Share.

These are some options we can try instead:

1. Remove access to the file share and check if any users may report loss of connectivity.
vSAN cluster > Configure > File Share > Select the File Share > Edit > click next on General page > select "No access" > Next and Finish.

2. Investigate performance tab of the File Share to see if there was any activity.
vSAN cluster > Configure > File Share > Select the File Share > Click Details or the symbol that appears like notes > Performance tab
