Problem with alert notification pointing to different alert

Issue/Introduction

If you are experiencing any of the following notification issues, this KB can help diagnose it.

• Alert seems to be triggering the wrong alert notification.
• Alert notification is missing configured metrics in the body
• Duplicate notifications are being received

Environment

Aria Operations 8.x

Resolution

Due to the structure of Notifications and Alerts in Aria Operations, it may not always be easy to tell which alerts are linked to which notifications.

If you are changing the default payload template for your email notifications, best practice is to retain the "Notification Rule Name" in the new Payload Template. This can help narrow down problematic notifications quickly. Most cases involving the receipt of incorrect notifications is due to a different or duplicate notification being misconfigured.

This can be done by going to "Operations -> Configuration -> Payload Templates" Check each payload template to make sure the "Payload Details" includes the line:

Notification Rule Name: ${NOTIFICATION_RULE_NAME}
