Issue/Introduction

  • In VMware Aria Operations, administrators may require a local operating system (OS) user with elevated privileges to log in via SSH, manage services, review logs, and perform other administrative tasks.
  • This article provides a solution to create a local administrative account for Secure Shell, allowing users to perform administrative tasks while maintaining the security of the root account.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.x

Resolution

Aria Operations does not allow creating a user with the same privileges as the root account. Instead, you can set up a Local Administrative Account for Secure Shell (SSH) access. This account offers administrative rights through group membership and privilege escalation, while keeping the system more secure.

To create a local administrative account for SSH in Aria Operations, Refer to the steps provided in the documentation
