Issue/Introduction

During image rollout with vSAN File Services enabled, host remediation consistently fails on the first attempt. Triggering remediation again completes successfully.

Environment

8.0 U3

Cause

The first failure happens because EAM performs a health check to ensure VM migration readiness before the next host can enter Maintenance Mode. When the host is already in Maintenance Mode, this check conflicts with vSAN File Services, leading to a false failure.

Resolution

At present, there is no permanent fix released.

Workaround:

  • Manually place the host in Maintenance Mode before starting remediation with vLCM.

  • Or, let vLCM handle the Maintenance Mode transition automatically during remediation.
