VCF Operations for Networks

Issue/Introduction

  • Manual Applications are created with VCF Operations for Networks.
  • No Metric data is seen on the GUI. These manually created applications reside in vCenter
  • Under accounts and Datasource page, the added vCenter shows Netflow ( IPFIX ) is not enabled.

NOTE:  VCF Operations for Networks was formerly named Aria Operations for Networks (AON), and prior to that was named vRealize Network Insight (vRNI).

Environment

VCF Operations for Networks

Cause

  • Netflow enablement is needed for richer data to be processed.
  • Without Netflow, no flow and no flow metrics will be seen.

Resolution

To fix this issue enable Netflow on the added vCenter Datasource from within VCF Operations for Networks GUI.

  1. On GUI, Navigate to Accounts and Datasource page.

  2. Edit the added vCenter datasource.

  3. Expand section "Additional Information"

  4. Check Netflow(IPFIX) Option, see screenshot below

  5. Click Submit.

  6. Wait for a period (not to exceed 4 hours) for richer data such as flows and metric to start collecting and processing.

  7. If after performing these steps, you still see the symptom, please open a support case with Broadcom Support - Creating and managing Broadcom support cases

Additional Information

The documentation to configure and use IPFIX with vCenter Servers can be found at Add VMware vCenter Server-To configure and use IPFIX
