Issue/Introduction
While creating a Compute Profile, the following error is observed in the UI:
Unable to generate Connection Rules.
The selected network container ###-###-## is not attached to all of the specified host(s) [list of host names]
The following error is observed in /common/logs/admin/web.log :
ERROR c.v.v.h.a.i.ComputeProfileRestController- Basic validation of compute profile failed. Errors: [{"code":"E_INVALID_INPUT","message":"The selected network container <network-container-name> is not attached to all of the specified host(s) [<hostname>."},
Environment
VMware HCX
Cause
During the Compute profile creation process, a validation is performed to check and confirm whether the ESXi hosts residing in the deployment cluster have been added to the virtual switch.
Note: The error message currently implies that all hosts are not attached; however, this behavior can sometimes be triggered by a single host. To investigate further, we suggest checking the validation status of each host within the selected deployment cluster.
Resolution
Review the compute profile associated with the networking inventory objects, such as port groups/switches, on all hosts belonging to the deployment cluster.
