Network Observability CA Mediation Manager

Issue/Introduction

We are performing the steps to migrate the Device Pack to a new system and while running the cammRestore utility it is asking to manually rename/create LC that is being restored.

The Mediation Manager documentation also says to rename the MultiController or LocalController, but it does not provide the steps to do that.

https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/it-operations-management/mediation-manager/24-3/installing/install-device-packs-in-ca-mediation-manager-for-performance-management/back-up-and-restore.html

Note:

If you restore the device packs to a system other than from where it was backed up, ensure to rename the MultiController or LocalController. So that they both are synchronized and work correctly.

Environment

All supported DX NetOps Mediation Manager releases

Resolution

Generally, Device Packs restoration will take place in this path:

Example:

~CAMM_HOME/MC/repository/<IP>/COMPONENTS/ENGINE_XXXXXXXX

<IP> replace it will new LC IP here

Basically you will to go the the above directory (~CAMM_HOME/MC/repository/<IP>) and rename the <IP> directory name.

Use the Linux "mv" command line to rename from <IP> to the actual IP of the LC.
