Issue/Introduction

When running automated an report, the data is not correct or incomplete. (missing objects or missing metrics)

Environment

Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

All reports are based on views, which are based on metrics or events based data. If this data is missing, then the report will be incomplete.

Resolution

Clarify that data is not missing

Open the Aria Operations UI and browse to Inventory ->
Click on vSphere World - select vcenter on which report is based from  -> metrics -> Summary - VC query time (ms)"
From the table displayed, click on the vCenter on which report is based.
Open the Metrics tab for this vCenter and check the metric: Summary | VC Query Time (ms)

In the example screenshot below:

First red arrow from left: Indicating issue with data collection and collection time increased from 2286 ms to 10002895 ms (186 minutes). Meaning collection was occurring but taking too long to complete.

Second red arrow from left: Showing a tiny blue line which indicates there was no collection from the vCenter as the vCenter is unavailable or unresponsive.

If the VC Query Time (ms) is greater than 300000 ms (5 minutes) or there are are gaps in the collection data this can cause incomplete data in reports.
