A dramatic decrease in print incidents is identified. When attempting to print to pdf a Microsoft Information Protection popup is observed stating that the file must have a sensitively label.
DLP and MPIP both active in the same environment.
When Microsoft Purview label enforcement is enabled, the print function within Microsoft Office products do not support these labels upon file creation with the print command and redirects the end user to export the file instead.
The active protection from MIP here redirects the users actions to the export option automatically and the print option is no longer selected within office.
This causes print detection via Symantec DLP to never trigger.
As the print action is never carried out there is no print activity to detect on. If detecting on this action is necessary you will need to do so via application file access instead.
