Issue/Introduction

In the standard TSSRECVR1 job, there is a RECVFILE DD statement pointing to the Top Secret Recovery File as the source of commands to recover.

//TSSRCVR1     EXEC     PGM=TSSRECVR,PARM='&TME,&DTE'
//RECVPRT      DD       SYSOUT=&PRINT
//RECVFILE     DD       DISP=SHR,DSN=&HL..RECFILE
//RECVCMDS     DD       DISP=(,CATLG),DSN=&HL..CHANGES,
//             UNIT=&SYSDA,SPACE=(CYL,(5,1),RLSE),DCB=BLKSIZE=3200

Does the RECVFILE DD have to be the recovery file currently in use by Top Secret or can it be a copy of the recovery file?

Resolution

You can specify a copy of the recovery file in the RECVFILE DD statement. It does not have to be the active recovery file.
