Issue/Introduction

  • Information on vpxd associated accounts linked to services in vSphere Roles and Permissions that can appear in the vpxd.log file

Examples:

    • vpxd-XXXXXXXX-<XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX>
    • vpxd-extension-<XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX>
    • vpxd-svc-acct-<XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX>
    • vpxd-svcs-user-<XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX>

Environment

6.x, 7.x

Cause

  • vSphere uses multiple vpxd-related solution user accounts for intraservice communication.
  • These accounts do not pose any security threat and are strictly used by vSphere.

Resolution

Editing / removing / deleting any vpxd-related solution user accounts is not supported.
