Issue/Introduction

  • The standard vSwitches are configured/created with special characters like '? and /?' in names on the ESXi host.
  •  Unable to remove the standard vSwitches from host UI and fails with the error " A specified parameter was not correct".    

         

         

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0.x
VMware vSphere ESXi 8.0.x

Cause

The special characters are not correctly parsed in the removed operation causing the failure.

Resolution

  • Remove the virtual standard switches with special characters in name from the host CLI with the command: esxcfg-vswitch -d "<vSwitch name>"
