Status Module Timeline Widget Is Not Showing Key Milestones

Issue/Introduction

Project 'Status' module 'Milestone Timeline' widget is not showing milestones when the 'Key Milestones' setting is configured.

The Milestone Timeline widget shows the 'Closest 10' milestones or 'Key Milestones', depending on how it is configured:

When you choose 'Key Milestones', no milestones are displayed (but there are Key Task Milestones in the Tasks list).

Cause

The 'Key Milestones' option shows the key milestones based on the 'Key Task' (priskey) and '% Complete' (prpctcomplete) attributes from the Task object. The completion status of the milestones (filled diamond) is calculated based on the % Complete.

If any of these attributes are secured, the user needs to belong to a group that has rights over those attributes to see the key milestones in the timeline.

Resolution

Review the Field Level Security settings for the attributes 'Key Task' and '% Complete' (Modern Administration > Attributes > [attribute] > Secure).

If any of the attributes are Secure, ensure that the user belongs to a group with appropriate Access View or Access Edit rights for those attributes.

Note: Clarity 16.3.3 implements a change where 'Key Task' attribute can still be secured, but it will always be visible to all users (Access View will always equal 'All Users', this is read-only).
