Issue/Introduction

Datacom Server 15.0 is end of service (EOS) since May 31 , 2025 .

This article explains how Datacom Server 15.0 can be upgraded to version 15.1 .

Datacom/AD 15.1 with Datacom Server 15.0

Resolution

Datacom Server 15.1 got delivered on the latest Datacom/AD 15.1 S2501 pax file .  

The Datacom/AD 15.1 README can be found here .

To upgrade Datacom Server 15.0 to 15.1 , run all steps from Install Products Using SMP/E JCL using this pax file. 

When done, install all available Datacom/AD 15.1 maintenance that got published after 20250101 . See Install Maintenance

Then  start the Datacom/AD MUF and Datacom Server with the new 15.1 S2501 CAAXLOAD dataset . That dataset must  be APF authorized. 

During Datacom Server startup , you should find message   DSV00049I-Datacom Server Version 15.1.xx ( like 15.1.02) . 

You must keep the existing Datacom/AD i15.1  installation datasets since we need to keep the customized members in the existing Datacom/AD 15.1 CUSMAC data set .  Or you copy  the existing DATACOM/AD 15.1 INSTJCL and CUS* data sets to new datasets with the new  S2501 installation HLQ.  

 And finally , the new packaging of Datacom Server 15.1 requires an additional step to deploy the code to USS zFS. The product is no longer delivered directly to a zFS via SMP/E. Execute either of the new CAAXSAMP  members ADYTUSSA and ADYTUSSB .

Datacom Server 15.1 was also delivered on the S2501 Datacom/AD 15.1 zOSMF file.
