Issue/Introduction

  • Unable to edit the "Network Profile" in Source HCX UI. Editing it throws an error "NSX-T config was not found for VC uuid <vCenter-id>"

  • NSX-T is registered with Source HCX in admin page i.e. <https://<hcx-ip>:9443

  • Review of the HCX app.log confirms the following specific error signatures during the task execution:

    • java.lang.RuntimeException: NSX-T config was not found for VC uuid ########-####-####-####-##########

    • JSONException: JSONObject["vcUrl"] not found

Environment

VMware HCX

Cause

This error occurs when there is no NSX Manager installed on the source/on-premises environment, but an NSX Manager is incorrectly registered with the source/on-premises HCX Manager in the admin page.

Resolution

  1. Log in to the HCX Appliance Management interface at https://<HCX-IP>:9443 using the admin credentials.

  2. Locate the NSX section and click Delete to remove the current NSX-T registration.

Note: This does not delete any configurations in NSX itself; it only removes the registration link in HCX.

  3. Navigate to the Services tab (or Troubleshooting > Service Actions).

  4. Service restart sequence is as follows (Wait for each service to return to a "Running" state.):

    • Click STOP on the three (3) HCX Services in the following order:

      1. Web Service

      2. Migration Planning Service

      3. Application Service

    • Click START on the three (3) HCX Services in the following order:

      1. Application Service

      2. Migration Planning Service

      3. Web Service

  5. If the environment requires NSX integration, return to the Configuration tab and re-register the NSX Manager.

    • Best Practice: Always use the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the NSX Manager rather than the IP address to ensure certificate and UUID alignment.

  6. Log in to the standard HCX User Interface (https://<HCX-IP>).

  7. Navigate to Infrastructure > Interconnect > Network Profiles.

  8. Select the affected Network Profile, click Edit, and then click OK (without making changes) to re-save and validate the profile.

  9. Attempt to delete or modify the Network Profile or Interconnect again.
