Network Observability Spectrum

Issue/Introduction

We are using the Spectrum Data Source in NetOps Portal to use the new Operational Reports that replace the Jaspersoft CABI Integration.

We want to add all device models to the domain Global Collections for sync to Portal and use in Operational Reports.

How can we create this new rule for the domain based Global Collections?

Environment

All supported Network Observability DX NetOps Performance Management releases

Resolution

To resolve this complete the following.

  1. In the WebApp select the Global Collection involved.
  2. Select it's Information tab.
  3. Select the "Edit Global Collection" button seen here.

  4. Select the Search Options button in the next window.

  5. In the Search Options window that opens select the Attribute button. In the Attribute Selector that opens find and select the Model_Handle attribute in the Device folder as seen here. Click OK to add the attribute to the Search Options config.

  6. Back in the Search Options UI set the following as seen in this image.
    1. Comparison Type = Greater Than
    2. Attribute Value = 0x1000000 (set the model handle for the landscape containing the target device models)
    3. IMPORTANT: Set Special Criteria to "Devices Only". Not doing so can cause performance impacts to Spectrum.
    4. Set the Update Options. Recommendation for best performance is every 24 hours, the default config.

  7. Click OK to save the changes.
  8. Run the rules to populate the GC using the "Update Global Collection Now" button.
