Issue/Introduction

How do we recycle the OPS/MVS OPSUSS Servers?

Environment

OPS/MVS-Event Management & Automation-for JES2

Resolution

To recycle a OPSUSS Server use the OPS/MVS panels to control OSF Servers.

1.- Visit OPSVIEW =4.3 and change the CLASS  ===> field from TSO to USS.

2.- Tab next to the server and type the C command to stop the USS Server and hit enter.

The OPSUSS Address Space will be restarted under the same ASID automatically.

If you need to stop them to apply a change then follow these steps:

1.- Visit OPSVIEW =4.1.1 and then set USSMIN to the value '0 SERVERS'.
2.- Lower your current value in the USSDORM to '60 SECONDS', which is the minimum value accepted.
3.- Once you set both parameters wait a minute and confirm the active OPSUSS Servers are stopped and the following messages are seen:

OPS3711I Idle USS server terminated due to MIN and DORM parameters
OPS3714H OSF terminated USS server OPSUSS, ASID=X'005C'
OPS3085H OPSUSS A=92 (X'005C') USS SERVER TERMINATED BY REQUEST .

    -  The ASID value displayed in the messages above will vary at every site.

If attempts to manually start OPSUSS Servers by using the MVS START command then results in an abend, use the following steps to restart them:

1.- Visit OPSVIEW =4.1.1 and then modify the USSMIN value back to your original value.
2.- Do the same for the USSDORM parameter set to '60 SECONDS' earlier.
3.- If you set USSMIN to '1 SERVERS' you will get the following messages once changes are entered:

       OPS1290H your_UID USSMIN 1 SERVERS

In this case one single OPSUSS Server will be started using the next available ASID in the system

       OPS3700H OSF now using 1 USS servers - MIN=1 MAX=8
       OPS1290H your_UID USSMIN 1 SERVERS
OPS3702H OSF started USS server OPSUSS,ASID=X'005A'
