Issue/Introduction

  • The example below shows missing the network and folder Mappings while creating a protection group in the ABR setup.

  • Required VM Mappings are already under Configure > Mappings.

Note: This issue is related to mappings. It is not associated with permissions when using the [email protected] account, unless a vCenter or Active Directory user account without the required Administrator and SRM roles is used.

Environment

  • VMware Site Recovery Manager 8.x
  • VMware Live Recovery 9.x

Cause

Some virtual machines in the datastore group resided in vCenter networks and folders that were not mapped in SRM.
During the Protection Group creation process in an ABR setup, the wizard displayed only the networks and folders that were not present in SRM mappings.
SRM retrieves mapping information exclusively from the pre-configured mappings available at the time of Protection Group creation.

Resolution

To resolve the issue:

  1. Skip the mapping step in the Protection Group creation wizard, click on Next, and complete the Protection Group setup.

  2. Review the VM list in the Protection Group for any warnings related to missing mappings.

  3. Add the required mappings in SRM by navigating to the Site Pair tab, expanding Configure, and selecting the type of resource to configure:

    • Network Mappings

    • Folder Mappings

    • Resource Mappings

    • Storage Policy Mappings

    • Placeholder Datastores

  4. Delete the existing Protection Group.

  5. Recreate the Protection Group so that the wizard includes the newly added mappings.
