Unable to run /opt/vmware/cap_lighttpd/sbin/lighttpd commands due to prompt for password.

Issue/Introduction

While attempting to stig vCenter servers you may attempt to run /opt/vmware/cap_lighttpd/sbin/lighttpd commands.  However running any of these commands prompts for a password and no matter what password is entered the command ends.

Environment

vCenter 8.0x

Cause

This occurs when the default shell is appliance shell.

Resolution

Set bash as default shell with the process found in the following article in the section "Switching the vCenter Server Appliance 6.x to BASH Shell":
