Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 5.x

Cause

DNS lookups are traversing through all VMs to find the SDDC Manager VM and timeout when it doesn't find the VM within 10 mins.

Resolution

1. Ensure all DNS servers are healthy and responding in a timely manner.

2.Ensure SDDC Manager is healthy by running a VDT check with Using the VCF Diagnostic Tool for SDDC Manager

3. Run an SDDC sos health check with Check SDDC Manager Health

If both health check tools complete without failures/errors then proceed with the following:

  • Take a snapshot of the SDDC Manager
  • SSH into SDDC Manager with the vcf user and use su to login to root
  • vi into  /etc/vmware/vcf/operationsmanager/application.properties and add the below:
    assessment.build.property.source.timeout.seconds=3600
    assessment.updater.method.timeout.seconds=3600
  • Restart operationsmanager service : systemctl restart operationsmanager
  • Retry the precheck
