Issue/Introduction

After applying patches/upgrading vSAN hosts, hosts show 0/0 disks via Cluster > Configure > vSAN > Disk Management

vSAN Health may be reporting the below alerts

vSAN Health Service - Performance Service - Stats DB object check

vSAN Health Service - Data Health – vSAN Object Health

Environment

VMware vSAN (All Versions)

Cause

The host is unable to detect the attached drives after patching/upgrading. If the host is unable to detect the drives then they can't be presented to ESXi for use.

Resolution

If both ESXi and the KVM (out of band server management) can't see the storage devices try power cycling the host to see if the disks come back online. If they fail to come back after a power cycle engage the server hardware vendor for further investigation. Once access to the storage devices is restored, the issue will be resolved.
