Storage rescan task is failing on ESXi host due to which backups are failing

Issue/Introduction

Storage rescans triggered by 3rd party back-up application are timing out causing the back-ups to fail

Cause

Faulty HBA causing Rescans to fail to complete:

Resolution

Preform a reboot of the ESXI host to clear the storage network connection to the HBA.

If the issue persists after reboot open a case with VMware support, and gather and upload the host logs for further investigation.
