"Error in method Invocation unable to connect to port 22" VC upgrade failed post stage1

Issue/Introduction

• VC upgrade from 7.x to 8.x failed with "Error in method Invocation unable to connect to port 22"


• Unable to access SSH/Putty on vCenter Server

Cause

SSH was not enabled on the Source VC. For more details refer Prerequisites for Upgrading the vCenter Server Appliance

 

Resolution

• Enable SSH access from VC VM Console on the Source VC. For more details on how to enable SSH on VC refer one of the below options:
  
  
  • Enable SSH from VAMI URL https://<VC_FQDN or VC_IP>:5480, Enable or Disable SSH and Bash Shell Access
    
    
  • Enable SSH from command line: Enabling SSH access when vSphere Client and VAMI are unavailable
