The error "Host settings are managed at cluster level. Host profiles cannot be attached to the host" noticed on the Host profile

Issue/Introduction

Unable to attach host profile, we see below error under the "Host Profile"

Host settings are managed at cluster level. Host profiles cannot be attached to the host.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi

Cause

This is not a bug, but the intended behavior. When a cluster is created with Configuration Profiles enabled, it automatically prevents management via Host Profiles.

Resolution

• To manage a cluster using Host Profiles, you need to create the cluster without enabling Configuration Profiles (i.e., leave the "Manage configuration at a cluster level" option unchecked in Step 1 – "Basics"). After creating the cluster, migrate the hosts to it and then attach the Host Profile.
