Migrating VMs between vSAN and traditional SAN and seeing "Datastore does not match current VM policy" in the Compatibility section of the migration

Issue/Introduction

When migrating VMs from vSAN to a traditional SAN, the default "VM Storage Policy" in the storage selection screen is "Keep existing VM storage policies"

Cause

In this scenario, the existing VM storage policy will always have vSAN enabled rules which are always going to be incompatible with traditional VMFS datastores

Resolution

VMware always recommends using "Datastore Default" when migrating between datastores.  For more information on using storage policies reference the following documentation:
