COBOL 5.2 Compiler Options: SSRANGE and ZONECHECK(MSG)

Issue/Introduction

Question: 

Should SSRANGE and ZONCHECK(MSG) be used as compiler options with the CA GEN product?

Environment:  

CA GEN release 8.5 and COBOL release 5.2

Answer: 

Regarding SSRANGE parameter, the default is NOSSRANGE. If we required it, we would have it. We agree that there is no need to change it to SSRANGE. 

Regarding ZONECHECK(MSG),  ZONECHECK(MSG) is fine with COBOL 6.1 and also with COBOL 5.2. However, COBOL 5.2 needs to have IBM's PI40822 and PI40853 applied. Again, if this needed to be included from a CA GEN standpoint, then we would have included it.
