Issue/Introduction

  • Kubernetes adapter instances are reported in warning.
  • SSL certificates for multiple Kubernetes adapter instances expired. The collection status does not return the collection state to OK even after updating the adapter with new certificates and restarting(stop and start) collection
  • 'Adapter instance is not receiving data' alert is triggered for these Kubernetes adapters. In /storage/log/vcops/log/analytics-#####-#####-####-####-####.log and collector.log, you see errors similar to:

    collector.log:

  • In Operations -> Configurations > Inventory Management, you see the state as failed:

Environment

VMware Aria Operations

Cause

These adapters instances remained in failed state after their SSL certificates had expired and the adapter instance resources are not in a state to recover

Resolution

To resolve this issue, start the collection from inventory following the instructions provided below:

  1. On the left pane, click Operations -> Configurations > Inventory Management tile
  2. Expand the Adapter Instances category and then Expand the affected adapter type
  3. Select the affected Kubernetes object(s) by left-clicking and then click Start Collecting (play icon).  Please refer the following screenshot as an example:
