Issue/Introduction

Network Extension Validation Fails Without Error Message in UI as shown below,

HCX Manager /common/logs/admin/app.log shows the following error message

YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS.ms UTC [NetworkStretchService_SvcThread-31###, j: 7147###, , TxId: 77906433-###-####-####-8037f0f416f4] ERROR c.v.h.n.util.NetworkExtensionUtils- Error in validating if VLAN is already extended : {}
java.lang.NullPointerException: null

Cause

This issue has been acknowledged as a product defect in HCX 4.11.0.

Resolution

This issue has been resolved in HCX 9.0 and later releases. It remains unresolved in the 4.11 branch.

Workaround:

Selecting the "Allow Overlapping VLAN" option during Network Extension validation results in a successful message:
“Validation completed. Submit to proceed.”
Following this, the network extension can be successfully completed.
