Unable to run Quickstart config of VSAN (can not Select existing distributed switch for use)

Issue/Introduction

When using the vSAN QuickStart option for cluster creation, you are not able to select an existing DVS from the "Select existing distributed switch" menu.

Environment

VMware vSAN (All Versions)

Cause

The vSAN QuickStart wizard will only allow you to select an existing DVS if it is not in use by the hosts you are trying configure. If you plan to use QuickStart for deploying vSAN all tasks need to be done via QuickStart otherwise the QuickStart workflow will run into issues.

 

 

Resolution

Review the configuration of the Distributed Virtual Switch you want to use for vSAN QuickStart and remove the host/hosts from it.  Once the hosts have been removed you should be able to select the correct DVS from the  "Select existing distributed switch" menu
