Greenplum differential recovery process not showing progress for extended time.

Issue/Introduction

It is expected to encounter extended differential recovery execution with large recovery during "checksum calculation" phase.

This can take unpredictable amount of time to complete.

File transfer and progress reporting with differential recovery only begins once this phase is complete. Therefore, aborting and restarting the differential recovery will not help, as rsync is already performing necessary background tasks.

 

Cause

There is no current functionality to estimate the completion time for the differential recovery.

Resolution

It is recommended to consult with Greenplum support for assistance with troubleshooting long running recovery.
