Issue/Introduction

Problem:

When trying to Start the CA Directory Service, the following error is received:

  ** ALARM **: DSA_E2220 Cannot register address
** ALARM **: DSA_I1240 DSA shutting down -sh-4.1$ dxserver -d start all Starting all dxservers itechpoz starting ..

 ** ALARM **: DSA_E2220 Cannot register address
  ** ALARM **: DSA_I1240 DSA shutting down

Environment:

The environments addressed in this document are Windows and Unix.

Resolution:

The reason for this error could be that the server is not able to register the address that is stated in the dxc file under the knowledge folder.

Possible Reasons:

    1.       The port for CA Directory is being used by another product.

     2.       (On Unix and Linux Only) The Services may have lost root access and the sticky bit is not set on the services.

     3.       Is the Servername in the itechpoz.dxc file is a valid server.

Possible Solution:

    1.       Check if CA Directory port is being used. Type “netstat –a” OR “netstat –b”.

If it is being used by another product, stop the service so it is open again, and now you should be able to start CA Directory (Itechpoz).

    2.    Log in as root, Change to $DXHOME/bin.

Use the following commands to change the owner and SUID bit for the binary with ports <= 1024:

            chown root binary

            chmod 4750 binary

Where binary can be dxadmind or dxserver.

     3. Check if the ServerName in the itechpoz.dxc file is pointing to itself.
