Issue/Introduction

Does Email Security.cloud (ESS) store emails (for any length of time) on its servers, or are they deleted once it has processed them?

What data is stored (e.g., metadata, header, body content, attachments, etc.), for what purpose, and for how long?

Environment

Email Security.cloud

Resolution

Email Security.cloud does not store emails (including body content or attachments) on its servers once they are processed. The service retains only logs for the purposes of reporting and troubleshooting.

The following types of log data are stored, along with their respective retention periods:

  • Track and Trace logs: 30 days
  • Backend SMTP and Service logs: Up to 14 days
  • Data Protection Policy logs: Up to 40 days
  • Data Feed API logs: Up to 7 days
  • Audit logs: Up to 1 year

These logs may contain metadata such as sender and recipient addresses, message subject, timestamps and policy actions, but not full message content or attachments.

Additional Information

For further details on log visibility and configuration, please refer to the Email Security.Cloud documentation or contact Broadcom Technical Support.
