Intermittent issues with HISTFILE being closed.

Resolution

The error has to do with the Report Server trying to read a record from the HISTFILE and the HISTFILE is closed. Check to see if the HISTFILE Archive job is running. This job will close the HISTFILE temporarily and when the archive job completes it will open it.

Check to see if the HISTFILE is open or suspended using the following command from Pagemode or Workstation LMI command

OPER LISTHIST

To open issue

OPER HISTFILE HIST1 OPEN

Determine the proper reply after making sure HISTFILE is open. Next Locate the HISTFILE Archive job and see if the execution time coincides with the message 6927a.
