VCF Operations/Automation (formerly VMware Aria Suite)

Issue/Introduction

1. After upgrading the Aria Operations to 8.16.1, VMware Aria Operations is not accepting the VMware Identity Manager (vIDM, now VMware Workspace ONE Access) domain credentials you were previously using for the vIDM adapter (also vIDM Management Pack or VMware Workspace ONE Access Management Pack).

2. The only credential type it accepts is the local admin account in vIDM.

3. When clicking on VALIDATE CONNECTION for the vIDM adapter, an error message pops up, saying "Connection refused: Unable to establish connection to Vidm server on:...Please check the Host and given Credentials."

Environment

Aria Operations 8.16 and above

vIDM 3.3.7

vIDM adapter 1.3 and above

Cause

The username configured for the vIDM authentication source and the vIDM adapter is not a local admin.

Resolution

Please make sure the username configured for the vIDM authentication source and the vIDM adapter is a local admin of the system domain user name. See Credential in Configuring VMware Identity Manager.
