Issue/Introduction

Issue:

Running the “smreg –su password” command to set the Super User Password, returns a popup that states:

“The procedure entry [email protected]@[email protected] could not be located in the dynamic link library SMUTILITIES.dll.”

Clicking “ok” at this popup, the smreg.exe gets closed and the command cannot be completed.

Environment:

Policy Server: R6.x to R12.52 SP2

Cause:

The smreg.exe file being used is from an older Policy Server version.

Resolution:

Every Policy Server installer comes with a 'smreg.exe' file. This file needs to be copied over to the CA\siteminder\bin folder before running the “smreg –su password” command.

Make sure the smreg.exe in your environment is from the corresponding Policy Server installation zip. The above error indicates that an older smreg.exe file is being used in your environment.
