Error "No participating VDCs found" when trying to create a Data Center Group in VMware Cloud Director

Issue/Introduction

  • Login to the Tenant Portal and navigate to Networking tab on the left side.
  • Select Data Center Groups and click New.
  • On the Participating VDCs page, the Organization VDC is missing from the list of participating VDCs.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Cause

This issue occurs when the Organization VDC/s do not have any network pools assigned.

Resolution

To resolve this issue:

  1. Log into the VMware Cloud Director Provider Portal as a System Administrator user.
  2. Navigate to the Organization VDCs view and click on the name of the impacted Organization VDC.
  3. In the Organization VDC view, click on Network Pool.
  4. In the Network Pool view, click Edit.
  5. In the Edit Network Pool Details for "<Org VDC name>" pop-up window, click Specify Network Pool.
  6. Select a Network Pool from the list of pools to use with this Organization VDC.
  7. (Optional) Set the Cross VDC Networking and Maximum Provisioned Networks settings as required.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Try creating the Data Center Group.
