When adding a VSAM file to DADS Plus the DSORG entry is set to UNAV.

Issue/Introduction

When adding a VSAM KSDS file to the DADS Plus control file the DSORG entry is set to UNAV on the FILE ALLOCATION DEFINITION ADD menu as shown below. 

Can the DSORG entry be set to KSDS ?

Cause

An FCT entry was not defined to CICS as indicated by the CURRENT STATUS: entry on the FILE ALLOCATION DEFINITION ADD menu Current STATUS:  NOT-ALL NOTINFCT

Resolution

Add A CICS RDO FCT entry for file TESTFILE to CICS and Install the RDO entry. Then use DADS Plus to allocate the file to CICS. Once the file is allocated to CICS the FCT RDO entry for the file will be updated with the data set characteristics from the catalog. A DADS Plus inquiry on the file will then show the DSORG => KSDS  as shown below
