Issue/Introduction

When affected virtual machine is powered ON it does not get connected over the network, the packet capture shows other mac address claiming the same IP address

00:50:56:##:##:## > ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff, ethertype ARP (0x0806), length 60: Request who-has ##.##.##.## tell ##.##.##.## length 46
00:50:56:##:##:##  > 00:50:56:##:##:##  ethertype ARP (0x0806), length 60: Reply ##.##.##.## is-at 00:50:56:##:##:##  length 46

The ARP response from the other VM shows that the IP address is already assigned to the network interface of other virtual machine.

Environment

VMware NSX

VMware vSphere ESXi

Cause

The network disconnection is happening due to duplicate IP

Resolution

Each VM should have a unique IP, change the IP on one of the VMs.
