Issue/Introduction

  • For some tenants, the storage utilization shows over-commitment of storage resources.
  • The issue started happening after a recent migration of workloads(VMs) using VMware Cloud Director Availability(VCDA).
  • The VCDA setup on the destination was removed(un-pairing the sites) and recreated after the initial replication job was created.
  • The replications were recreated and VMs moved to the destination in the second attempt.
  • The replications cannot be reviewed from VCDA as the pairing was later removed after a successful move of the workload VMs.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x

VMware Cloud Director Availability 4.7.3

Cause

The issue happened due to the presence of the RT VMs created in the initial attempt.

When the site pairing was removed, these entries remained in the VCD database as stale records adding to the storage.

Resolution

The stale RT VM entries need to be removed from the VCD side to reflect the correct utilization.
