Issue/Introduction

When generating reports in Aria Operations (vROps), CPU values are shown in GHz by default. However, users may require CPU information to be displayed in terms of the number of cores instead.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

By default, Aria Operations reports and dashboards display CPU metrics such as CPU Usage and Provisioned Capacity in GHz. These metrics are performance-related and do not reflect the physical hardware configuration, such as the number of CPU cores.

Resolution

To display the number of CPU cores instead of GHz in your Aria Operations reports:

1. When creating or modifying the report view, select the Properties option instead of Metrics.

2. Use the property:

Configuration | Hardware | Number of CPU cores per socket

3. Optionally, you can also include:

Configuration | Hardware | Number of CPUs

These properties provide a numeric value corresponding to the number of physical CPU cores, which can be used in reports for capacity planning or audit purposes.
