Issue/Introduction

  • The vSphere Replication appliance has been upgraded from  vSphere Replication 8.x to vSphere Replication 9.0.x.

  • A vSphere Replication VAMI reconfigure task has already been executed as part of the upgrade process.

  • All related vSphere Replication configuration site pairings,  replication jobs are in ok status. 

  • A red banner message is visible in the vSphere Replication VAMI stating  ...
           "To complete the update process, follow the prompts of the Reconfiguration wizard and confirm your current configuration settings. Reconfigure



  • Any subsequent vSphere Replication VAMI reconfigure attempts fail with "Operation Failed: A general system error occurred: Failed to register VRMS.

Environment

vSphere Replication 9.0.x.
VMware Live Site Recovery 9.0.x

Cause

  •  The existence of file 'configureRequired'  in /opt/vmware/dr/conf is used by the configureRequired to test whether a reconfigure task is required.

  •  If the zero-sized file 'configureRequired' exists, the banner message is shown on VAMI as a prompt to run the Reconfigure action.

Resolution

  • Delete the file /opt/vmware/dr/conf/configureRequired

  • Refresh configureRequired VAMI page.
