Tanzu Mission Control Data Protection Extension Stuck in Disabling State

Issue/Introduction

- In the TMC UI you see the message "Data protection is being disabled. Disabling data protection can take several minutes".

- The disable process does not proceed.

- Deleting CRDs manually get recreated automatically.

Resolution

- Scale down the agent-updater deployment in the vmware-system-tmc namespace to 0 replicas:
kubectl scale deployment agent-updater -n vmware-system-tmc --replicas=0

- Wait until the data protection module is removed from the cluster

- Scale up the agent-updater deployment back to 1 replica:
kubectl scale deployment agent-updater -n vmware-system-tmc --replicas=1
