Issue/Introduction

Running several Policy Servers in the environment, how to prevent downtime and service unavailability when restarting one of the Policy Servers?

Resolution

This risk can be reduced a lot when configuring the HCO of the Agents.

The graphic "High availability environment" from the documentation shows 2 clusters having each 3 Policy Servers, which bring high availability (1).

The Policy Servers are set in a cluster in the CA Access Gateway (SPS) and Web Agent HCO (2).

So, to benefit from high availability:

  • Set the HCO using the cluster configuration to benefit from high availability;
  • Test the configuration in a lower environment with load;
  • Ensure that the maximum expected load on the environment with 3 Policy Servers can be handled by only 2 Policy Servers when one of them gets shut down;
