"Configure Virtual Disk Digest" Tasks Stuck at 0% in Horizon-Integrated vCenter Environment

Issue/Introduction

End Users may observe multiple instances of the “Configure virtual disk digest” task being queued in the Recent Tasks tab.

These tasks remain stuck at 0% progress and do not complete in vCenter UI.

Environment

 

• vCenter Server Version: 8.0 Update 3

• ESXi Host Version: 7.0 Update 3

• Infrastructure Type: Horizon VDI deployment

 

Cause

These tasks are initiated by Horizon for indexing and caching purposes associated with replica VMs, not by vCenter Server directly. This behavior stems from the Horizon desktop pool configuration.

Resolution

• Adjust settings within the Horizon desktop pool to prevent unnecessary digest tasks.
• Engage Horizon Support to fine-tune pool settings and address Horizon-specific task initiation behavior.
