Issue/Introduction

As per the product documentation  (1) one of the possible trace parameters to enable for a web agent is the agent response time. When active, the parameter in the trace Includes the average response time in milliseconds of the Policy Servers associated with a Web Agent or SDK Agent and API application

To enable printing out this parameter the  Agent_Con_Manager along with the data field ResponseTime must be included in the web agent trace configuration file specified in the Policy Server Configuration Object (ACO) and the policy server must be restarted. The Agent_Con_Manager component, or Agent API Connection Manager, will calculate the ResponseTime each time a response is received from a Policy Server and keeps a running average. To locate the ResponseTime in the trace log, search for [PrintStats] entry.

This works fine for a regular web agent. It would appear that the same would be applicable to the CA Access Gateway default agent by modifying the configuration items mentioned.

However, if such operation is attempted, even though the header of the CA Access Gateway web agent trace does show the ResponseTime field, no PrintStats entry is subsequently located in the trace file. In other words, such statistics are never collected for the CA Access Gateway when it seems they should.

Cause

As of the writing of this article (July 2025) this functionality has not been implemented for the CA Access Gateway default web agent and hence such statistics are not available
