Issue/Introduction

Title: Alarm for Exclude List Size Limit
Event ID: exclude_list.exclude_list_ip_limit_exceeded
Alarm Description:

  • Purpose: The "Exclude List Size Exceeds Limit" alarm warns the user when the program is experiencing long processing times due to the processing of a large Exclude List.
  • Impact: In this case, the user should expect longer processing times, which could potentially lead to timeouts and outages. The size of the Exclude List is calculated based on the IPs of its group members. For example, if the Exclude List contains 10 groups and each group has 4 IPs, the total Exclude List size would be 40. Therefore, the Exclude List size is equivalent to the number of IPs in its group members. The alarm will be triggered if the Exclude List size exceeds 7000 IPs for any form factor setup: Small, Medium, or Large.

Environment

VMware NSX 9.1 and above

Cause

The alarm is triggered if the Exclude List contains more than 7000 IPs.

Resolution

Steps to Resolve
For 9.1 and higher

Recommended Action:

Go to the Exclude List from the alarm overview screen. Edit the Exclude List by either removing the group with a large number of IPs or adjusting the number of IPs in the group to reduce the total number of IPs.

Additional Information

Consider removing groups from the Exclude List, or reducing the members in the groups to avoid exceeding the size limit.
