Issue/Introduction

There was a Windows security update and the Nimsoft robot watcher service went down.

Windows event viewer System log showed:

Installation Started: Windows has started installing the following update: Security Update for Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server (KB5040711)
The Nimsoft Robot Watcher service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 1 time(s). --- Error

Environment

  • DX UIM 23.4.4
  • MS SQL Server 2022 Standard Edition

Cause

  • Windows security update
    • Scheduled Windows Update stopped the Nimsoft Robot Watcher due to security update including Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server. Note that this driver is used for the data_engine.

Resolution

  • Once the team restarted the Nimsoft Robot Watcher service the system recovered.
  • Checked UIM, OC, hub queues and everything was back to normal working status and operations.
  • In this environment, Windows updates are automatically scheduled.
