Issue/Introduction
- When attempting to install the Telegraf agent on a virtual machine (VM) from Aria Operations UI, the operation fails with the following error message:
PrerequisiteCheckException: ESXi port connectivity check failed for esxfqdn:443
- This issue affects both Windows and Linux virtual machines.
Environment
- Aria Operations 8.x and above
- Operating systems: Windows and Linux
Cause
This issue can occur due to any of the following reasons:
- The VM on which the telegraph agent is being installed is unable to resolve the Cloud Proxy hostname.
- Cloud proxy cannot connect to the ESXi host where the target VM is hosted over port 443
Resolution
- Verify Port Connectivity: Ensure port 443 is open between the Cloud Proxy and the ESXi host where the target VM resides.
- Update DNS/Hosts File: Add the Cloud Proxy entry to the DNS hosts file on the source VM where the Telegraf Agent is being installed.
